Click on the following link to see a little of what we have to offer:https://www.canton-mi.org/DocumentCenter/View/9870/Employment-Perks-82521JOB DESCRIPTIONDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Front Desk Supervisor acts as a lead worker and is responsible for ensuring all Summit on the Park guests are provided with excellent customer service.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed)

  • Register/Sign-in guests for programs, classes and activities using recreational software program.
  • Trains and supervises part-time/seasonal staff and volunteers assigned to front desk.
  • Assists with enforcement and compliance of safety program rules, policies, regulations, and procedures by public and employees.
  • Recommends purchase of supplies for front desk operations and other areas as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic and written records, logs and reports as required.
  • Responds to, communicates and documents emergency situations, including but not limited to first aid, severe weather, and missing child.
  • Keeps abreast of community needs and current trends in the senior recreation field to ensure the delivery of quality customer service for all community center visitors and guests.
  • Greets and interacts with participants and families in a positive and friendly manner and provides excellent customer service; including but not limited to, resolving customer complaints, providing tours, explaining programs and services available.
  • Displays extensive knowledge of designated area and assists and attends staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensures accurate money handling in accordance with Summit policies and reconciles and records cash, credit card, and check transactions daily.
  • Supervises front desk operations in the absence of the Adult Specialist.
  • Performs daily front desk closing procedures.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Ensures the front desk is organized and performs general cleaning duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Minimum age of 18 years old.
    • High school graduate or GED required.
    • A minimum of one year supervisory experience or one year of Summit Front Desk Attendant experience or one year Membership Services Assistant required.
    • Previous cash handling experience required.
    • Must possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which includes, but is not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving.
    • College credits preferred.
    • Previous community center or facility operation experience preferred.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office required; knowledge of recreation programming computer programs (registrations, membership sales, and event/program tasks and management) preferred.
    • Must be able to assist handicapped or injured patrons including but not limited to contacting EMS or assisting with building evacuation during emergency situations.
    • Ability to respond to emergency situations; must be able to climb stairs to 2nd level of the facility to assist during emergencies.
    • Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) required.
    • Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
    • This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget.             • This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee in this position can work up to 29 hours per week year-round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on workload and availability.
