Job Description:

This position involves calculating and providing monthly payroll using MEDITECH's in-house system. As a member of our General & Administrative team, your job would involve:

  • Processing semi-monthly and monthly payroll for 3800+ employees across 4 states; Calculating the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with the assistance of a computer system
  • Learning the internal Payroll System, "STEPS"
  • Understanding the workflow of the Payroll cycle and using the STEPS system appropriately
  • Demonstrating Payroll knowledge through the quality and quantity of work
  • Processing parental leaves, leaves of absence, time without pay, and terminations
  • Processing changes in schedules, health insurance, taxes, and other information
  • Coordinating employee raises monthly
  • Calculating and filing state and federal payroll tax payments
  • Coordinating the distribution of year-end tax documents
  • Maintaining and documenting all payroll records and staff members' personnel files
  • Receiving approval from upper management for payments when needed
  • Processing salary changes, deductions, bonuses, vacations payouts, and benefits payments for staff members
  • Working with outside companies to complete employment verifications for past and current employees
  • Responding to payroll queries from staff members in a timely manner
  • Analyzing payroll issues and recommending corrective actions
  • Maintaining confidentiality; protecting staff members' data as identified in state and federal laws and internal controls

What You Should Have

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree, with course work in a related field
  • Previous accounting and/or payroll experience
  • General knowledge of accounting cycle
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
