Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, the Director of Graduate and Professional Studies is responsible for planning, implementing, and executing effective strategies to attract and enroll qualified students to adult, graduate, and online programs at Malone University. This position will provide leadership and supervision for the admissions department to promote the mission and vision of Malone University to prospective students. The director will develop campus-wide collaborative recruitment efforts in order to meet enrollment goals. GPS admissions functions within the coordinated efforts of enrollment management, including the additional units of traditional undergraduate admissions and financial aid.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

Recruit, select, train, and lead admissions staff: Provide leadership for building the recruitment team for graduate and professional studies. Supervise admissions staff and facilitate personnel issues/changes. Set goals and accountability structures that create a culture of successful recruitment and retention.
Execute enrollment strategies and tactics: Lead the admissions department in the continued cultivation of current markets and the identification and development of new target markets. Assess the work of the admissions team for efficiency and effectiveness by tracking and measuring progress and outcomes.
Create a comprehensive, data-driven recruitment plan: Attract and enroll qualified students in accordance with University goals. Collect, analyze, and use marketing and admissions data to assess internal practices and inform University planning efforts. Use data and analysis to promote the effective performance management of admissions staff.
Leverage University resources: Develop and administer an annual admissions operating budget. Identify potential opportunities for more effective use of financial and personnel resources in order to meet enrollment goals.
Launch new programs of study and fully-online programs: In coordination with the associate provost and other faculty charged with curriculum and program development, assist in the creation of new academic programs based on market demands and institutional resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A thorough understanding of complex recruiting environments and subsequent recruiting strategies, CRMs, and marketing techniques. - Knowledge of industry best practices for recruiting adult students - Understanding of the time-sensitive nature of communication with prospective students Strong planning, organizational, critical thinking, and quantitative skills. - Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently - Ability to use quantitative and qualitative data in support of decision-making, evaluation, and strategic planning Superior verbal and written communication skills - Collaborative administrative style - Ability to communicate with a variety of institutional stakeholders and external audiences - Commitment to effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and the public Knowledge of current and emerging technologies available to improve the enrollment process Awareness and commitment to establishing relationships and positive communication across multiple dimensions of diversity A committed Christian faith evident in daily life, and commitment to the mission, foundational principles, and educational goals of the University.


A bachelors degree is required; a masters degree is preferred.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in adult and graduate student recruitment and administration.
