Software Engineer - Electric Vehicle Systems

Job Description:


This position will assist in creating component and system level design and release documentation for electric vehicle systems. This will include working with vehicle controls system software, creating manufacturing, assembly and service-related documentation, and interfacing with the production team to resolve engineering change requests.

Control's work encompasses advanced control strategy development and verification for unmanned ground vehicle systems, hybrid electric vehicles and components (motors, drives, engines, generators, energy storage cells etc.), advanced suspensions, material handling and other auxiliary equipment for on-road and off-road applications.


  • Serve as a member of the EV Software Team in the development, implementation, and testing of controls software and hardware improvements to existing and future systems
  • Build and modify Simulink code to run on a real-time embedded target
  • Design and document wire harnesses and cabling for system integration
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot delivered customer systems (local and remote)
  • Participate in component selection and verification activities

    • BS in Mechanical, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
    • 2+ Years of experience in automotive engineering development

      • 2+ years' experience in controls systems engineering or software engineering in the automotive
      • 2+ years of Matlab/Simulink experience
      • Ability to read engineering drawings, prints, schematics, and diagrams
      • Experience writing embedded applications on microcontrollers (required)
      • Experience working with CAN and the J1939 protocol (required)
      • Experience with wire harnesses and automotive electrical systems
      • Understanding of basic electric vehicle systems and operation is preferred
      • Experience generating wire harness documentation
      • Knowledge of classical control theory, optimal controls, adaptive controls, model predictive controls, and state-space modeling
      • Experience with automotive, Off-Highway or heavy-duty equipment
      • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
      • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collect, organize, analyze, and report on data with attention to detail and accuracy
      • Self-starter, able to start and complete projects quickly and independently
      • Experience working with cross-functional teams
      • Experience working in fast paced and dynamic environment
      • Ability to prioritize and execute work among competing prioritiesby Jobble
