Job Description Job Description Description: AGENCY OVERVIEW Centers For Family Development, Inc. (CFDI) is a private, non-profit comprehensive family counseling agency that was originally established in 1978 as Black Family Development, Inc. (BFDI) by the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers (DNABSW). By establishing CFDI as a family counseling agency, DABSW sought to promote and provide quality community-aligned social work services in Detroit. Since that time, CFDI has grown to accommodate the increasing demand for a variety of specialized family-focused counseling and services in the community. CFDI’s programming includes early childhood resources and literacy development, a 3-tiered juvenile justice service array, mental health prevention and treatment, substance use disorder prevention and treatment, R.E.A.L Brothers supportive resources, school-based intervention, and trauma-informed care. Most importantly, our staff are heroes who strive to match passion for service with equal parts best practice to partner with families to achieve their goals. Requirements: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), under the direct supervision of the Office Manager (Nurse) and guided by Black Family Development’s mission, vision, and values, assists with performing day-to-day integrated health services for the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Assists with the completion of the assessment process for clients, including but not limited to medical/social/family history, medication list/reconciliation, and vital signs as applicable · Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control while obtaining clients’ vitals and performing patient assessments · Maintains examination and treatment areas prior to and after client visits · Implements current procedural terminology and coding during patient contact and when documenting · Assists clinical team with examinations and assessments · Administers medical and psychiatric screenings as needed and follows up with clients’ results · Performs ancillary testing and tasks as ordered or calls medical facility or department to schedule client for tests · Collaborates with team to address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of clients and family · Communicates effectively with the healthcare team regarding client’s physical and mental condition(s) · Educates the community and clients on health issues to increase health literacy · Performs related duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: · A high school diploma is required · Completion of a Medical Assistant training program from an accredited college or university is required · Certification through Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is required · Experience with providing care in a physical health or behavioral health care environment is required · Experience charting in an EMR is preferred · Experience auditing in a medical or human service industry is preferred · Ability to collect and analyze data to establish and draw conclusions · Experience interpreting and applying agency program service and accreditation – related policy standards in reviewing agency wide services for compliance at various agency locations · Written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with customers · Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks · Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy · Proficient in Microsoft Suite · Maintains professional development education and training to maintain licensure · Ability to represent the organization internally and externally to support agency business activities with the highest level of professionalism · Must have a kind, patient, and empathetic personality as well as a commitment to providing clients with the best possible care · Team player with a strong work ethic and the willingness to help where and when it is needed · Up to date CPR and first aid certification · Adheres to professional code of ethics
