proficiency Description: This position performs diagnostic
ultrasound imaging, including a variety of procedures. Procedures
range from biopsies to routine OB/GYN, limited vascular, abdomen,
small body parts, and color Doppler. Technologists must have strong
critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving
abilities. They are responsible for the safety, mental, and
physical comfort of patients during their care. Strong
interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to effectively
instruct patients under physical or emotional stress. Technologists
must comprehend and follow physicians' verbal orders and imaging
protocols. They must work productively within a complex
environment, adapting to changing priorities. The Ultrasound
Technologist is responsible for obtaining patient information,
reviewing medical records, and maintaining documentation accuracy.
They must uphold a high standard of medical ethics and pursue
lifelong learning to enhance their understanding and knowledge of
the field. Providing excellent customer service is essential.
Technologists produce quality images by selecting appropriate
technical factors and equipment settings. They verify patient
orders, review exam appropriateness, obtain patient histories, and
explain procedures to foster comfort and confidence. They determine
if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, using
independent judgment to differentiate between normal and pathologic
findings. The technologist independently operates sonographic
equipment and communicates findings from diagnostic examinations.
They oversee daily operations, maintain patient schedules, manage
equipment maintenance, report failures, and ensure quality
assessment. They maintain a clean work environment and adequate
supplies. Responsibility for appropriate sterilization techniques
and documentation accuracy of logs, charts, forms, and records is
required. Compliance with regulatory laws, standards, and protocols
