Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Hours per Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT experience, preferably in a large hospital setting. License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and possess the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or be registry-eligible. Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Candidates must possess effective communication skills. Ability to display ownership and understanding in patient care. Demonstrated motivation and sensitivity towards patient needs. Commitment to excellence and teamwork. Respect for diversity and commitment to ongoing learning. Description: Under general supervision, specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May also perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structures of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media and monitors patients for possible reactions. Provides immediate care to patients if a reaction occurs. Assists in performing complex diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Demonstrates the principles of radiation protection. Resolves any image exceptions to ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies. Demonstrates consistent team member standards of excellence. Performs all necessary documentation in the medical record and radiology information system. May work in a fixed unit or in a mobile unit within the hospital. May be exposed to radiation and high-voltage equipment if proper precautions are not utilized. Occasionally may lift or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs.
