GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Outpatient Nurse Supervisor coordinates and organizes clinical
personnel and other resources to meet the patient care functions of
the organization, in a cost-effective manner, and in conjunction
with the operations manager where applicable. Has responsibility
for clinical operations, orients and trains clinical staff, and
ensures competency for excellence in clinical practice. Develops
process improvement initiatives based on best practice and
participates in the development of policies and procedures.
Supports quality patient care to meet regulatory guidelines and
participates in Patient and Family Centered Care while also aiding
individuals in a manner that considers their special or age-related
needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Develops, directs and motivates clinical staff. Assigns workload
as necessary. Conducts monthly staff meetings. Develops schedules
for nursing staff and coordinates daily assignments to ensure
optimal patient flow.
2. Interviews and hires nursing staff for department and
responsible for clinical orientation. Evaluates clinical staff
according to performance evaluation procedures during the
probationary period and at least annually, including peer review.
Identifies any need for performance improvement issues with
individual clinical staff and recommends plan of action to
correct.
3. Develops and leads clinical staff through process improvement
initiatives and upholds the Beaumont Nurse
Professional Practice Model.
4. Gathers and reports information for Quality Improvement, chart
audits, and patient care outcomes.
5. Writes and updates policy and procedures that supports care
provided ensuring they meet Joint Commission and other regulatory
requirements.
6. Continuously monitors daily clinical operations by integrating
data from electronic systems, personal communication, and physical
unit rounds to assure patient care effectiveness, efficiency and
satisfaction.
7. Research new product information, meets with vendors, arranges
for in-services of new clinical equipment. Coordinate Clinical
regulations as they apply to physician's office or ambulatory
clinic.
8. Promotes communication at all levels.
9. Upholds professional standards of care by demonstrating
leadership skills and a high level of clinical competency while
striving to achieve the system Mission and Vision.

precautions - reports and prevents/corrects unsafe conditions and
behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental
safety programs.
7. Completes all required compliance standards that may be
department specific and/or identified by the organization.
8. Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification,
as applicable, at all times.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed

A. Education / Training:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
B. Work Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
required.
C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- RN License in State of Michigan required. Certification
preferred.
- BLS Certification required.
D. Other Qualifications:
- Problem solving, excellent interpersonal and communication
skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Effort:
- Strength: Position requires ability to frequently push/pull up to
30 lb. objects with assist of others, occasional requires ability
to lift objects more than 50 lbs. with others, constantly lift
objects up to 20 lbs. And frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
- Manual Dexterity: Position requires incumbent to constantly
perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking and simple
manipulative skills such as writing. Position requires incumbent to
frequently perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as
positioning patients.
- Coordination: Position requires incumbent to constantly perform
gross body coordination such as walking. Frequently perform tasks
which require hand-eye coordination such as assisting patients to
eat, collections of specimens for transport to lab and tasks which
require arm-hand steadiness such as taking patients temps and
pulses.
- Mobility: Position requires incumbent to constantly walk and
stand; occasionally sit for prolonged periods, frequently bend such
as when caring for a patient in bed.
- Visual Discrimination: Position requires incumbent to constantly
see objects far away as in driving and see close objects such as
reading thermometers.
- Hearing: Position requires incumbent to constantly be able to
hear normal sound with some background noise as in answering
phone/intercom. Occasionally be able to distinguish sound as in
equipment alarms.
Work Environment:
- Occasionally exposed to hazardous material other than blood, body
tissues, or fluids, dust, toxins, cytotoxins, chemical hazardous
materials, bodily injuries, loud and/or unpleasant noises, high
humidity, electrical hazards, or poisonous substances
- Infrequently exposed to blood, body tissue, or fluids.

radiation
