PROGRAM DIRECTOR - FOUNDATIONAL EDUCATION AND ALLIED HEALTH Req# 17403 Aultman Health Foundation , CANTON , OH AULTMAN COLL NURSING HLTH SCIE Aultman Health Foundation Full Time , Day Shift , Varies The Program Director works directly with the Dean to ensure alignment of program goals with overall goals of the respective Division and the College as a whole. As such, the Program Director then provides leadership for academic activities of a specific program, reviews and develops courses, recommend resources to support those programs, and interpret academic needs. Teaching expectations are outlined in the faculty workload policy. For more detail on principal accountabilities, see "Performance Measures and Standards" listed below. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Holds, at a minimum, the following credentials: ASR/AASR Program: Master's degree, 2 years' experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program, holds ARRT certification equivalent and is currently registered in the pertinent discipline. Proficient with specific program accreditation agencies: American Society of Radiologic Technology (ASRT), Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Standards, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Rules and Regulations. Undergraduate Nursing Programs: Earned terminal (e.g. PhD, EdD, DNP) (including a Master's degree in Nursing if the terminal degree is not in nursing), 2 years' experience as an instructor in an accredited registered nursing program. Proficient with specific program accreditation agencies: Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN); Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Foundational Master's degree in a health-related field required. Doctorate Degree in Education & health sciences or related field preferred. Three (3) years' experience in Allied Health higher education program leadership; experience with higher education accreditation, program development, program assessment, higher education regulations and regulatory bodies; experience in healthcare settings, understanding of the healthcare field. Current valid licensure as required by the appropriate agency(s) (e.g. Ohio Board of Nursing, ARRT, Ohio Department of Health) REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Effective verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Skill in fiscal and organizational management and educational planning. Have the ability to adapt rapidly to a variety of situations. Proficient with health science specific program accreditation agency(ies) as applicable PERFORMANCE MEASURES & STANDARDS

  • Support and promote the mission and philosophy of Aultman College Nursing and Health Sciences as well as the Division.
  • Responsible for supervisory activities and projects as delegated by the Dean. For nursing programs, this specifically includes:
  • Verifying that each nurse teaching a course in the program holds a current, valid license*
  • Maintaining resources, including but not limited to classroom and skills laboratory equipment and supplies necessary for students to successfully complete the program*
  • Maintaining communication with central administration and other units of the controlling agency, faculty, students, clinical agencies, and the board*
  • Participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of the educational program, curriculum and instructional processes.
    • Facilitating faculty development, including enhancing educational competencies*
    • Ensuring regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum*
    • Participates in coordinating arrangements with affiliating agencies to provide experiential education opportunities (e.g., clinical, fieldwork, internship)
      • Recommends development of course schedules and classroom assignments.
      • Ensure adequate experiential education sites needed each semester.
      • Participates in the preparation and management of the budget for the program*
      • Conducting on-going program assessment (in coordination with the Institutional Research and Assessment Coordinator)
      • Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies.
      • Assists in recommending academically and professionally qualified faculty members which includes recommending faculty for appointment, promotion, tenure or retention, and termination.*
      • Conducts faculty performance reviews at the delegation of the Dean. For nursing programs this includes:
      • Ensuring a written policy related to the evaluation of faculty, teaching assistants and preceptors is implemented*
      • Modeling life-long learning relative to the professional discipline and in current educational methodologies.
      • Facilitates faculty development that provides for orientation and education of the faculty*
      • Participates in academic appeals and student conduct issues, as outlined in college policy.
      • Prepares program reports and self-study documents as required by professional regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations. For nursing programs, this specifically includes:
        • Submitting to the board a corrective action plan any time the program administrator submits one or more erroneous certifications of program completion to the board*
        • Prepares any special reports that may be required. For nursing programs, additional performance measures and standards include:
          • Establishing the faculty or teaching assistant to student ratio for direct patient care experiences at no greater a ratio than ten students to one faculty or teaching assistant, or a smaller ratio in clinical settings where necessary to ensure the safe delivery of nursing care by students, faculty, and teaching assistants*
          • Certifying to the board, in a format prescribed by the board, for each student who is an applicant for licensure in Ohio that each applicant successfully completed the requirements of a program and the date the applicant completed the program requirements* *Specific to Ohio Board of Nursing Roles and Responsibilities for Program Administrator (4723-5-09, Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) ROLE WITHIN THE CULTURE OF ASSESSMENT Each administrator, staff, and faculty member is expected to understand, value, prioritize, and communicate assessment as a critical institutional practice. Everyone has a responsibility to support the culture of assessment with behaviors that facilitate and sustain practices. Position-specific responsibilities include:
            • Understand data collection/reporting obligations
            • Report on time and share information with appropriate director/ manager before submitting to IEC PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMAND AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Working conditions in the office areas are good. Position requires regular attendance, much mental activity, study, reading, planning, evaluating and decision making. If practicing duties related to clinical instruction (especially patient contact) hazards could include needle sticks and sharp instruments and bloody and bodily fluid exposure or any other hazard a health care worker might be exposed to in the normal performance of their duties. Physical demands in the office are minimal with occasional lifting and/or carrying of such articles as records, files, or books - 10 pounds maximum. Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, and copier occurs on a frequent basis. Occasional irregular hours and travel (which may include clinical site visits). Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines.
