Engineering Analyst III Contract Duration: Through July 10, 2026
(with potential for extension) Location: Flint, MI Work
Arrangement: Hybrid (In-office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote:
Wednesday, Friday) Position Overview CMS Energy is seeking
Engineering Analyst III professionals to support large-scale
natural gas distribution replacement projects. This field-based
role integrates with operations and construction teams to verify
construction accuracy, capture positional data, and document
as-installed gas assets using GPS and GIS technologies. Key
Responsibilities Support gas main construction teams onsite by
collecting and documenting as-built asset data. Use GPS antenna
hardware and GIS software to support construction documentation and
verification. Ensure data accuracy, quality, and integration into
enterprise GIS systems (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap). Maintain
documentation and revision control for GIS/GPS system
configurations and implementations. Attend and participate in
operational reviews, pre-construction meetings, and field tech
demonstrations. Coordinate with engineering personnel and the
Contractor Oversight Liaison for project alignment. Maintain
flexibility for extended work hours including Fridays/Saturdays as
needed. Travel to multiple job sites across Michigan's lower
peninsula. Required Qualifications Education & Experience (One of
the following): Bachelor's Degree 3 years relevant experience
Associate Degree 6 years relevant experience High School Diploma 10
years relevant experience Technical Expertise: Strong understanding
of natural gas distribution systems, safety regulations, and
construction practices. Proficient in reading construction prints
and interpreting engineering documentation. Hands-on experience
with GPS data collection and GIS mapping systems. Familiar with
ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, etc.).
Experience with survey control methods and utility location best
practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Teams). Preferred Skills Utility locator experience
Experience working with field data collection tools (e.g., iPads,
GPS antennas) Knowledge of MIOSHA Part 10 regulations Strong
analytical, communication, and teamwork skills Certifications &
Training Requirements Candidates must have, or be willing to obtain
prior to start: OSHA 10-hour Construction Certification (MIOSHA
compliant) CPR / First Aid Excavation & Ladder Safety Traffic
